Near the end of last year, Decal Impressions was presented the opportunity to help the Dunlap Cafe develop a new logo, brand, and website. The goal was to create a cohesive look that was simple, contemporary and reflected their heritage. Established in 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio’s Over-The-Rhine district, there was no shortage of heritage and culture to consider. One of the restaurant's distinct features is a collection of vintage beer cans covering one of its walls. The design aesthetic on many of these cans served as the inspiration for the new brand.
We then selected vintage and retro-inspired fonts and developed an overall aesthetic that would easily translate from the logo to branded imagery, in-store collateral, and the new website. We used images from the restaurant and texture overlays to further develop the refreshed brand.
